Dear Prof. Kelty,

Thank you for expressing your thoughts on the shut down of library.nu

I am a student from Pakistan and I loved the website. I was in college when discovered library.nu. I was so excited that I did not sleep properly for days.

I had never imagined I would get to live in a world where knowledge would be. But I did and I loved it.

I cannot believe that somebody else came here before me for the same intent to thank you for the writing of such a great article about library.nu and its noble role.. this thing proves that your article was more than superior.

The day when I clicked my library.nu toolbar bookmark and I saw "RIP library.nu" believe me this was the most mournful day during my whole "online" life. I realized that I have lost a gold mine of knowledge, it reminded me of incident when the Moguls invaded Baghdad and destroyed its prestigious library even Tigris turned blue from the "blood" of the books, I think the day library.nu turned black the internet had for the first time a new river, a river formed from the bits of the sweat of the authors and cumulative efforts spent since humanity dawn to build knowledge, feed our curiosity, make our lives easier and heal our diseases.
I am happy that no one of those greedy publishers lived thousand years ago, because if so, he would have managed to find a way to issue a patent for each invention he has done that last to the day of Judgement!

Actually, after the failure of legislation of SOPA and ACTA due to widespread public opposition, the politicians propelled by the publishers wishes decided to do what they want to do silently, that said, there is a sneaky crackdown on human sharing on the internet that makes no hassle as SOPA and ACTA did, we are really sheeple because if no media motivates us we are never to move or do anything, simply we are puppets in the hands of media.

A lot of those big publishing companies were pirates long time ago, (there are historical records about how European publishers(I don't know if they were called so before the development of printing industry) in medieval ages took Islamic and Arabic books and translated them without even mentioning the real author's name and attributing the efforts to themselves, not only that, the British publishers took the works of the French publishers and preached the copyrights those the same copyrights they advocate today, American publishers did the same to British publishers and today they coalesce to fight the poor people for a "sin" they did in the past, What a Shame!

The publishers think that they are smart and that they have won. but on the long run they are the actual losers You know why?
because those same "pirates" who where deprived from access to scientific knowledge are the same authors of tomorrow, yes, they have lost tons of potential authors because if I am going to be an author of scientific material someday I think I will insure that people have free digital access to it by available means since I know how it feels when you need a resource and cannot afford to buy it or find it.
Congratulations to the idiot publishers who suffer from mental myopia!

if you get this message\comment please reply to my email to know if this page is actively reviewed or is not.

I reiterate my thanks to you for the article that uncovers the farsightedness and foresightedness of the writer.

Dear Prof.Kelty

Thank you for your article on library.nu.
My name is Dimitris and I am from Crete, Greece, a place that the cost of having a good book is really enormus. library.nu, was a real and honest help for me enabling me to study economics, mathematics, philosophy, politics from prestigeus authors and the directions of the mit open studies programme.

Access to knowledge and education is the timeless need for countries facing difficulties like those we expirence in Greece today, and the unique tool for the young citizens who aspire to contribute to a possitive change and development in their comunity, society and country! Hopefully, library.nu is going to work again for us all assisting people to make a difference through knowlegde and education.

Kind regards and thanks again

Lame....where's all the affordable, reliable outdoor gear that enables anyone to embrace any experience with confidence.

I especially like the brown text floating atop brown grass. Make 'em work for it.

Mostly, I miss the pictures. There were even some of me.

Not having any idea who you are, I thought I had better comment. Congrats to all producers, the producee and the sister upon whom much responsibility by nomadic parents is heaped.

From the pictures, I see a small package which is nearly helpless save for making all grownups into doting fools and subjects for satisfying whims, demands and fits of tyranny.

Pat and I send our love and know how very pleased Ted would be and is.
